I fished with Randy and his wife Cheryl 2 nights this week. Both evenings we were greeted by hungry snook. On the first night we caught a slam (snook, trout, redfish). The second evening we changed things up targeting small and large tarpon and big jacks. We caught a small tarpon then looked towards large one’s. We found a few fish that were just pummeling the mullet. I made one cast right in the school and suddenly 2 dolphins pushed in and killed the bite. We rounded out the night with a bunch of snook and a few bruiser jacks.

I fished a ton of charters last month. On each trip we caught a mix bag of snook, redfish and trout. Lots and lots of trout. As you can see from the pictures in the post every spot I fished there where hungry trout waiting for me. As the weather warms the trout bite will remain hot in the passes, beaches and flats. This is the time of year I catch the largest trout  as the big females school up for the spawn. I was planning on fishing snook with Dennis and Eric. Just for the heck of it I made a pass by my tarpon spot just to see if they were there on the great full moon tide we were having. As I rounded the corner I saw a nice fish free jump and I knew it was ON! We went 3 for 5 on tarpon that night loosing one to a broken hook and one threw the hook.  After the action slowed we caught about 20 or so snook under some choice docks. The super moon lead to super fishing.

I fished Dave, Dane and Kevin for a late afternoon trip last week. We had an epic evening of snook fishing with a ton of double hook-ups and 7 triple hook-ups. The final tally was somewhere between 60 and 70 snook caught. Defiantly a memorable afternoon. The pick below is of a nice slot sized fish caught by Dane.

I fished with Ken yesterday. Ken told me all he wanted to do was catch a tarpon, as you can see I made good on that. Ken fought the fish for a while in a strong tide but, he finally subdued the “king”. The tarpon have Just started showing in the last few days a good sign of things to come.

I fished a full day with Eric and his son Jake and wife Shelly. We had decent action through out the day. Snook, Trout and jacks were the main players with a few ladyfish and even a flounder mixed in. Action for naples fishing charters should remain strong for the next few months, peaking with the beginning of tarpon season. Please excuse the thumb!

I fished with josh and his son Gabe this week. We had a good snook bite going early, then decided to get some trout for the skillet. Expect the bite to keep getting stronger as the months progress.

I fished with Marion and Randell last week. The snook bit e proved to be very strong for us. We caught several snook as well as this nice one pictured above.

It’s been a while since my last post, but since then the fishing has been getting better and better. The bait of choice, pilchards, are showing up thick. I’ve been netting up a couple hundred of these little guys and chumming up plenty of fish. Most of the fish showing up in the chum have been snook, although the trout and redfish have been pretty cooperative as well. I anticipate the fishing to remain hot for the next few months, finally climaxing in May when the tarpon show up in droves. Remember…it’s never too early to book your charter, especially for Tarpon, as my availability becomes limited quickly.

John and I had a great day of nearshore grouper fishing last week. John caught a limit of gags pretty quick as well as a limit of mangrove snapper.
