Grouper fishing with John
John and I had a great day of nearshore grouper fishing last week. John caught a limit of gags pretty quick as well as a limit of mangrove snapper.

I started my day with David a little later than usual due to the cold weather we have been having. Although we had a late start, the fishing was red hot! We managed 22 redfish and a dozen sheepshead at the very first spot. We had great action all day, rounding it out with 26 redfish, 18 sheepshead and few decent mangrove snapper mixed in.
I took a great client and friend Brian out today. The day started with this fat gag grouper but the water was muddy and cold. Brian and I persevered and scored a few small snook and redfish in the back, rounding out a slower than average day. All in all, it was a slow day but we still had a blast and put a few filets on his table.
I fished with Nick and a few of his buddies for a bachelor party today. We caught plenty of snook and redfish. Nick caught the beautiful Naples redfish on the first cast!
Gary was from the U.K. but he had fished all over the world. He was a great angler and a blast to fish with. We fished two days together the first night it rained like crazy but we scored 5 small tarpon like the one above. The next morning we caught 1 big tarpon around 80 pounds.
I fished for snook in Naples Bay with a new client, Eric. The day started off slow but, as the tide came in so did the fish. We caught around 25 or 30 snook in 45 minutes! The action stayed hot until the boys arms were worn out. The snook fishing in Naples can be great in the summer.
Jeff and his brother were both great anglers. We caught around 18 snook and the nice redfish above. Bait was hard to get today but, I managed to to fill the live well with nice threadfin herring. Threadfin can be a little big for bait at times but, as they say “big bait, big fish”.
I fished with Jay and his fiance Kelly. It was a little windy but the fish where biting good. Kelly managed this nice redfish on one of her first casts.
